Gilbert I went looking on Ancestry and thought this very relevent. Caroline STEVENS was with husband Charles in the 1891 census at Tisbury. She was not in any earlier. Name: Caroline Stevens Age: 64 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1827 Relation: Wife Spouse's Name: Charles Gender: Female Where born: Tisbury, Wiltshire, England Civil Parish: East Tisbury Ecclesiastical parish: East Tisbury Town: Tisbury County/Island: Wiltshire Country: England Charles STEVENS married September quarter 1890 at Tisbury, so did Caroline FORD, almost certainly to each other. (This is NOT definite that it's them though - Charles also had a son Charles. There was another Caroline FORD born 1848. A Caroline FORD married George DUKES Dec qu 1878 and I'd say this is the younger one. You'd need to check marriage certificate from 1890 to be certain it was the right couple). Henry FORD died Tisbury aged 70 June quarter 1889. Charles and Emma have family as follows including son Edward. Emma died in December quarter 1882 Tisbury. 1861 Name: Charles Stevens Age: 47 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1814 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Emma Gender: Male Where born: Fonthill Gifford, Wiltshire, England Civil Parish: Fonthill Gifford Ecclesiastical parish: Salisbury County/Island: Wiltshire Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: View Image Registration district: Tisbury Sub registration district: Hindon ED, institution, or vessel: 2 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 30 Household Members: NameAge Charles Stevens47 Charles Stevens11 Edward Stevens13 Eliza Stevens8 Emma Stevens46 Luke Stevens19 Caroline lived in Chicksgrove Lane East Tisbury with husband Henry 1881, and also in Chicksgrove Lane with husband Charles 1891.The neighbours are different so I'm not sure it's the same house unfortunately. Edward STEVENS lived on nearby Chicksgrove Farm with his family in both censuses. Wife was Fanny, children Alfred, James, Eliza, Emma, Ethel. In 1881 and earlier, Charles was 1.8 miles away in Fonthill Gifford with Emma and family, both saying they were born there. If you want more details of any of the above I can get them for you, either copy and paste of census listings or the original images. The question appears to have turned into: IS Caroline Edward's mother, or is his mother Emma??
