If you search on website http://history.wiltshire.gov.uk/heritage/wills_search.php you will see two references to a James Arnold of Corsley Wiltshire in 1850 & 1851. It looks as though there was a bit of litigation! You will have to write off to Wiltshire Record Office for copies of the documents. They may let you pay by credit card Ros -----Original Message-----
I searched FreeBMD and only got James Arnold 1848 Cirencester Gloucestershire, Wiltshire James Arnold 1849 Tisbury Wiltshire James Arnold 1849 Warminster Wiltshire James Arnold 1851 New Forest Hampshire, Wiltshire Now I am too new to English research to tell you which might be your man but I searched 1846 + or - 5 years and only got the above. Where did you get your dates? I sure found a bunch of James Arnolds in the passenger lists <G> one seemed to be an Irish seaman. Eliz, I have been researching this family for over 10 years but found James Arnold Jr's birth parish of Wiltshire last spring. I have James Sr's wife Mary Summers, children John, James jr, Elizabeth and Mary all in Olmstead and Wabasha Co., MN in late 1800 to 1900. I have tombstone records for them in MN. I just found the family history for James Arnold Jr online on the Wabasha Co, MN from a Wabasha Co., MN history book for 1884. There I found the information on when James Sr died and when his son came to USA ( have not been able to locate a ship passenger list for him info on Ancestry does not match). I have james Arnold jr living in Pike co., IN in 1860 census near his future wife Mary Ann Wheeler and their Marriage in Warren Co., IN 22 Apr 1862. I have 1857 state census of Wabasha Co MN showing Stephen Summers, Wife Mary Summers, Mary's Son James Jr. and James sister Mary all living together. James Jr is back in Pike Co., IN in 1860 census as a day laborer living in a boarding house. 1870 James Arnold jr is living with wife and children in Olmstead Co., MN, sister Mary is living with husband George Everett and children in Wabasha co., MN they married in 1858. Elizabeth is also married. John is living in Wabasha co., MN with wife and no children on state censu 1875. Most of family are buried in Farm Hill Cem. Olmstead Co., MN Sharon M.
