Bledsoe" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 08, 2009 4:42 PM Subject: [ENG-WILTSHIRE] Arnold family in Wiltshire I am asking for help as to the path I should take to find more information on the following family: James Arnold born ca 1801 Wiltshire, England He is reported to be an innkeeper and market gardener, He died ca 1849 in Wiltshire, England. He married Mary ( possibly Corp since Elizabeth Corp living with family in 1841 census possible sister of Mary) ca 1821 Wilthsire, England. He had the following children: 1. John Arnold born 1823 Wiltshire, England 2. James Arnold born 9 Jul 1832 Swallowclifte, Wiltshire, England 3. Elizabeth Arnold born 1834 Wiltshire, England 4. Mary Arnold born 24 Sep 1836 Fovant, Wiltshire, England A year after James Arnold's death in 1849 his son James went to USA to establish a home for his mother and his two sisters. Shortly before leaving England Jamesjr's mother Mary married Stephen Sumner. I would like to trace this family farther back but have never researched in England so would welcome suggestions how to proceed. I have visited several websites in Wiltshire but not sure what I would need to do to continue research. Hire a researcher, purchase CD's, etc. Before I begin to spend money which is limited I would like to plot out my path. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sharon M.
