I am seeking to make contact, and to share LAWRENCE family history notes, with any descendant or researcher of George LAWRENCE / LAURENCE, who was a brother of a Lawrence ancestor of mine. George LAURENCE, junior, son of George and Anne Laurence, was probably born about 1696; there is no baptismal record for George junior in the PR of Hilmarton, Wilts. However, George junior, was named as a son in his father’s will. On March 7th., 1722, in Tockenham, Wilts, George LAWRENCE, yeoman of Hilmarton, married Anne HOPKINS, spinster of Hilmarton. George was a yeoman farmer in Penn, in the south of the parish of Hilmarton, Wilts. Ann was buried from Penn, in Hilmarton, on June 24th., 1752 and George junior on May 2nd., 1753. The will of George Laurence, yeoman of Hilmarton, was proved in 1753 and is available in the Wilts and Swindon History Centre. George junior and Ann had issue: a. William LAURENCE, baptized in Hilmarton on September 8th., 1722 and buried there on September 13th., 1722. b. John LAURENCE, baptized in Hilmarton on September 13th., 1723. John married, location and date unknown, Elizabeth and they lived in Penn in the parish of Hilmarton. John 80 was buried in Hilmarton on March 11th., 1805; an Elizabeth LAWRENCE (possibly this one) 91 was buried in Hilmarton, from Chippenham, on October 28th., 1820. John and Elizabeth had issue. c. Anne LAURENCE, baptized in Hilmarton on June 27th., 1726. d. Mary LAURENCE, baptized in Hilmarton on February 5th., 1730. On October 13th., 1751, in Tockenham church, a Mary LAWRENCE of Hilmarton, probably this one, married James BUTLER of Lyneham, Wilts. They lived in Lyneham, where they had issue. I wish each of you a very happy New Year, one with a lot of successful searches! Best wishes. Peter Ferreira Toronto, Canada.
