Dear Marilyn & my other helpers, I have gone through all the information you have kindly sent. As Lily was with Amos Middleton & his family when she was aged 8 & then aged 18 in 1901 with a daughter of Amos, Mary Ann ( aged 5 in 1871) & 25 when married in 1901, I am certain that she must fit into this family somewhere. As her birth parents are not given she must be illegitimate---the daughter of a son before his marriage & then not wanted by his wife, the daughter of a daughter of Amos or the daughter of a son's wife born before she married a Middleton.The latter might be a good answer if his wife's maiden name was WILLIAMS.I haven't worked out where Lily's 3rd Christian name came from. If any Wilts member who reads this lives near Chippenham & could go into the Record Office I would certainly pay them to do this. I would just like a check made of the baptismal register for Minety 1882 ish to see if Lily was baptised & any parents names given. If all else fails hopefully a birth cert would name a parent.
