    3. I am seeking to make contact, and to share RUMSEY family history notes, with any descendant or researcher of the family of my ancestor, John RUMSEY. John RUMSEY senior (c1699 – 1775) lived in West Knoyle, Wiltshire, England. The Rumseys were yeoman farmers in that village and occupied Manor Farm from approximately 1765 till about 1880. We have a West Knoyle monument inscription documenting the name of his wife, Elizabeth. Baptismal records of his two youngest sons were entered in the parish registers. In addition, I infer that John RUMSEY junior was an older son whose baptism was not recorded in the West Knoyle PR. The will of John RUMSEY senior, which was written about 1768/9, mentions only two sons, John junior and William; John RUMSEY senior died and was buried in West Knoyle in 1775, aged 76; his will was proved in 1775 - it is available at the Wilts and Swindon History Centre. Elizabeth died in 1754, aged 68. John RUMSEY senior and Elizabeth had issue: A. John RUMSEY junior, born c1723. In 1748, in Stourton, Wilts, John RUMSEY of Little Knoyle married Ann CHISMAN of Great Knoyle. Some time after 1766 some or all of this family moved to East Knoyle. John RUMSEY junior died in 1805, aged 82, and was buried in East Knoyle. Anne RUMSEY was buried there in 1797. John and Ann had issue. B. Barnabas RUMSEY, baptized in 1727 in West Knoyle. Barnabas died in 1742 and was buried in West Knoyle, aged 16. C. William RUMSEY, baptized in 1730 in West Knoyle. In 1756, in West Knoyle church, he married Martha WIGMORE, spinster, of East Knoyle. William was a yeoman farmer; from 1765, he farmed Manor Farm in West Knoyle. William was buried in West Knoyle in 1784; his will was proved in 1786 is available at the Wilts and Swindon History Centre. Martha, his widow, was buried in West Knoyle in 1792; she was aged 65; her will was proved in 1793 - it is also available at the Wilts and Swindon History Centre. William and Martha had issue. Best wishes. Peter Ferreira Toronto, Canada.
