    3. Mike   Thank you very much........you are a genius!!!   You have also taught me a new way to search..........and yes my Eliza was there as E.W with Mary as M.W and Robert as K(mistranscription) W.   I wonder how many people are missing relatives in this way?   You have enabled me to finally resolve a family mystery.   Many Thanks Philip --- On Tue, 7/12/10, mike@barmisal.me.uk <mike@barmisal.me.uk> wrote: From: mike@barmisal.me.uk <mike@barmisal.me.uk> Subject: Re: [ENG-WILTSHIRE] Brokenborough Workhouse 1861 ? To: eng-wiltshire@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, 7 December, 2010, 17:38 Hi Philip If you 'browse' 1861 England census on ancestry.co.uk, rather than search - Enter Wiltshire, Brokenborough, District 6 - you will see the return for the workhouse. The 'inmates' are listed only by initials, not names - this may be why you can't find the people you want by searching. Hope this helps Mike Salamon -----Original Message----- From: eng-wiltshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-wiltshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Philip Wolverson Sent: 07 December 2010 00:31 To: ENG-WILTSHIRE@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-WILTSHIRE] Brokenborough Workhouse 1861 ? Has anyone on the list viewed the 1861 Census for the Brokenborough Workhouse ? I am trying to find my ancestress Eliza Wilkins (born c.1836) -she was recorded in 1841 at the Workhouse aged  5 and in 1851 aged 14 -her daughter Mary was born in the Workhouse in 1855 but I cannot find them indexed in 1861 either on Ancestry or Find My Past -also I cannot actually find the Union Workhouse in 1861. The family were there in 1871 by which time Eliza had acquired two more children Robert (10) and Henry Alfred(7) The good news is that Mary married Lewin Vizor in 1878 at Westport St Mary and appears in Brokenborough in 1881 and Eliza has also finally escaped the workhouse in 1881 when she is recorded as a silk weaver in Burnivale Westport St Mary with her sons. Any advice would be appreciated..........Thanks ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-WILTSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-WILTSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
