Hello Colin, I have the HUTCHENS family in the 1700s onward, the spelling of HUTCHENS changed to HICHENCE by 1800 the name had changed to HITCHENS. George HUTCHENS married Grace SYMMES/SYMMS 21 February 1733 Bishops Canning. My 6 x great grandparents. May be worth your while to also look for variations in the spelling.
