    3. Hi Valerie, Sorry to be labouring the point but there is more in that LDS catalogue for Allcannings than you might know about. The LDS library catalogue has a film of the BTs for Allcannings for years 1605-1878. The description of the film begins with the word "Bundles 1-5 Baptisms" followed by a long listing of the years covered between 1605 - 1878, Marriages 1608-1837 & Burials 1605-1878. There may be gaps in these years I have not looked to check for gaps, but if you repeat my search of the library catalogue and select the link for the BTs in the results of the search you will be able to click on the link to View Film Notes and see the years covered to see if the year you want is included. The film number is 1279396 items 7-11 There is another listing in the results for Allcannings that is for Etchilhampton where the description says that Etchilhampton is a chapelry in the parish of Allcannings. Could it be that the baptism you seek took place at Etchilhampton and therefore appears in those PRs rather than the PRs for Allcannings but when the BTs for Allcannings were made up the baptism was added to the BT for Allcannings, perhaps from notes made outside of the Parish register for Etchilhampton? Whether this sort of thing is feasible I do not know, but others on the list are bound to have more idea than me. Might it be worth checking the PRs for Etchilhampton to see if the baptism is there, The film of the PRs for Etchilhampton containing the bapts and burs. is film no. 1279343 items 35-37 There is another item in the list of results for the PR of Allcannings 1579-1965 where in the description it says "Microfilm of original records in the Wiltshire County Record Office Trowbridge" and "Title board says, Etchilhampton, records actually of church parish of Allcannings". The film no. for this is 950868 This film has Births, burials 1579-1812, marriages 1579-1754, baptism 1813-1880, marriage 1754-1837, banns 1823-1935 & Burials 1813-1862. All of the films in the results of the search for Allcannings were made by the LDS at Wiltshire County Record office, so what is on the LDS films should be the same as what you would have access to at the Wilts CRO, no more no less. If the Wilts CRO have the BTs or PRs on their own microfilms then you will not get access to the original ancient registers themselves, but will have to look at the microfilms of them instead, which you could do at your nearest LDS centre. I know you said you have looked at the Allcannings PRs at the LDS but what about these other options? Have you tried those too? Regards Jenny DeAngelis Spain. <<> thanks for your reply which would have been very helpful, but I had done all that. What I am hoping to see is the real original Bishops Transcripts written in 1787. I'll try the Country archives and see if I can see them there. I do have the information on the birth I want.>>
