Dear Listers My gt gt grandfather Thomas VINER  (VINNERin 1881 census) was born in Great Cheverell, near Devizes in 1857. Devizes  5a 91 Mar 1857. His parents are Charles Viner ,bn 1819 in Frome, and Mary Ann bn 1835 in Great Cheverell. Thomas was the first child. Then came Frank, 1858 bn Frome Henrietta 1860 Frome Louisa 1861 Frome Benjamin 1863.Frome I cannot find their marriage.   I have spent HOURS and HOURS searching in Trowbridge and now in the new centre in Chippenham.  I can find a marriage for JOHN VINER and Mary Ann PURNELL in Dec 1856 (Frome 5c 1009) , and have often wondered if this record has been mis transcribed as Thomas had a brother John. I have searched records for Great Cheverell, other Devizes parishes and Frome. Thomas's mother Mary Ann?  died in 1863 in Frome. It seems that Mary Ann VINER (nee ?) went to Great Cheverell for the birth of her first child, the others were born in Frome because they lived there. Pat I see there was a "Mary Ann Dean Lane" baptised in Great Cheverell on 17 May 1835. The parents are William & Penninah Lane. Could this be the lady you are looking for?
