Hello List! Like almost every other researcher, I find that every advance raises more questions. That's why we do this stuff! For years I have searched for some of the PALMER family from Chippenham (Langley Burrell & Lacock.) Family legend had it that Thomas (1817) left home due to his mother's re-marriage after his father (John) died. I knew Harriet (1821) came to London as a dressmaker and later as a coffee shop owner. I now find that Thomas, Thirza (1816) and Harriet, are in Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell on the 1841 census, saying that they were not born in the county! One reason why I couldn't find them. Most important of all, Ann PALMER (nee BODMAN) is there aged 55. So on the face of it she didn't re-marry. So what about the wicked step-daddy? I have yet to find her death. Thirza died from scrofula in Percival Street in 1843. The DC has Thomas KNIGHT as being present at the death. I had never heard of him. He is described as an uncle on one of the census returns. This led me to look for KNIGHT in Langley Burrell. There are very many, to say the least! Which one was the relevant one, I am unsure, since ages on the census returns are inaccurate. There is a Thomas KNIGHT who married Ann BRYANT in 1839. Could they have decided to move to London with the PALMERs. And there are BRYANTs on the relevant 1841 census pages. My query: Is anyone researching KNIGHT of Langley Burrell? I need to know what the link is between PALMER and KNIGHT. Finding the death of Ann Palmer will be another major step, since it will show who was present at the death. There are many Ann PALMERs to choose from. Any information most gladly welcomed.
