There used to be a fairly new directory at the Wiltshire site but I lost it years ago. Archive CD Books has the 1920 North Wiltshire Directory 1920 Directory of North Wiltshire and District 1 CDs | 2003 | GB0996 | $17.95 A comprehensive street directory as at 1920 of Swindon and directories of towns and villages for miles around, including Chippenham. High quality scanned images of the whole of the original book. Information about the towns and villages within the county. Its inhabitants by name and address Eliz On Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 5:55 AM, Geoff Morse <geoff_morse@hotmail.com> wrote: > > Does anyone have access to the street directories as above. > > I'm trying to find when my grandfather G.W.Bryant & his family moved to 33, Pembroke Street. He moved to Swindon sometime after my mother was born in 1917 and he was in Pembroke Street in 1928. I seem to remember my mother saying they lived for a time in a house north of the railway line before moving to Pembroke Street. There is a G.W.Bryant shopkeeper living at 38 Jennings St in 1920 which would fit the bill, except that my grandfather wasn't a shopkeeper - he was a railway signalman. I'm hoping the directories between 1920 & 1928 only show one G.W. Bryant either at one or the other of these addresses. > > Thanks in advance > Geoff Morse > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-WILTSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
