I have been seeking the birth/bap of my gg/gm. On various cencus returns she claims to have been born in Berwick St John, father JAMES MARTIN. ANN MARTIN married JOHN WILTSHIRE LONG in Shrewton in 1848 her place of abode was given as Winterbourn Dauntsey, a servant. In the 1851 Census the couple are in Shrewton and have a visitor LYDIA MARTIN of Berwick St John. There was a JAMES MARTIN living in Berwick with a large family but no ANN. Please, can anyone help me on this problem, I have been searching for such a long time. Vera Lennard g3vps@tinyworld.co.uk
Hi Vera, >From the 1841 Lydia Martin is living in Berwick St John with James and Mary Ann,also listed is Rhoda Martin aged 80 in the same household. On the IGI there is a christening of James, son of Richard and Rhoda Martin in 1795. On the 1851 census Ann is listed as aged 29,is it possible that she was christened Elizabeth but used the name Ann. Hope this helps in some way Gilly ----- Original Message ----- From: <g3vps@tinyworld.co.uk> To: <ENG-WILTSHIRE@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 22, 2011 5:41 AM Subject: [ENG-WILTSHIRE] ANN MARTIN > > I have been seeking the birth/bap of my gg/gm.
