Jan Referring to your last two sentences only. There is a book 'South Wraxall - A book for the year 2000' photographed and written by Vanessa Brett Parker with the assistance of the residents of South Wraxall. 2001. It is a private book for the South Wraxall Parish Council, so does not carry an ISBN number. It was printed by CPI Bookcraft, Midsomer Norton. The index shows the following persons and pages. Betty, 92 Charles 42, 152 Edward 58 Frank and Betsey 122 William 92, 155. In 1833 the Land Tax Assessment shows Wm Harrison Proprietor, Occupier himself, of house and land. Exonerated Nil. Not exonerated 2 shillings 0 pence. (Probably available at the WRO). These books are few and far between as so few were printed. Occasionally they appear on internet auction sites as mine did. Jim Researching the HELLARD's who lived at South Wraxall and who are mentioned in the book. -----Original Message----- From: eng-wiltshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-wiltshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jan Heiler Sent: 07 June 2011 12:18 To: ENG-WILTSHIRE@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-WILTSHIRE] HARRISON from Bradford on Avon & South Wraxhall Hello to all, I have just joined this group. I am interested in finding information on my great-grandfather WILLIAM HARRISON who was born in Bradford on Avon in about 1856. I believe his parents were William & Ann Harrison. He married Ellen Sophia HARRISON - she was born in South Wraxhall in about 1862. (They may have been related with the same surname...) They married in 1881@ Bradford on Avon (v. 5a p. 242 Oct- Nov-Dec). William was a Royal Marine (Artillery) on the HMS Warrior. At some stage they emmigrated to Queensland, Australia but I am having difficulty finding any information about this. They had 6 children; the first Bertha was born in 1882 at Portsea Island, Hampshire. Then Edward 1886; Albert Francis 1888; Ada Eleanor in 1890 and the last two Ellen and Elsie (my grandmother) was born in Brisbane in 1894 & 1896. I am having trouble finding records of the births of children 2, 3 & 4 who are listed as alive on my Grandmother Elsie's birth certificate. William & Ellen died in Brisbane, Ellen was 90 when she died. William was a "Warder" - I am guessing in the QLD prison system. I have searched ancestry.com and found much information mostly thru the census records (1881; 1871 & 1861). Also some information thru the National Archives website and various random sites about HMS Warrior. If anyone out there is related to or has information on the Harrisons' on this area of Wiltshire, I would appreciate hearing from you !! regards, Jan Heiler Sydney, Australia ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-WILTSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
