Hi........I posted this request a while ago but didnt get an answer to my query so here i go again just in case someone new can help. I have Henry BULL who was nabbed in Jan 1786 for stealing food in Yatton keynell however by the time the case was heard in April 1786 he was dead. This comes from the Salisbury Quarter Sessions. Would Henry have died in jail? were people let out on bail til the case was heard or did they wait in jail for the case? There are apparently no records of his death at Fisherton Anger where the jail was. Also if his crime was commited in Yatton keynell why would this not be in the Devizes Quarter Sessions instead? I thought that was where everyone who commited a crime in Yatton Keynell was sent. regards, Kim
