    1. [ENG-WILTSHIRE] Minster Church of St. Denys, Warminster, Christmas tree festival
    2. Josephine Jeremiah
    3. On of my Wiltshire-born relatives is William George Dore SCREEN the son of George SCREEN and Mary Ann VEATER and the nephew of my 2x great-grandmother, Angel Dore VOKES (nee VEATER formerly PAYNE). His birth was registered in Warminster, Wiltshire in the December Quarter of 1847. He was baptized on 5th. January 1848 in the church of St. Denys, Warminster. I see that the Minster Church of St. Denys, Warminster is in the news today as it is holding a Christmas tree festival. More information on this event can be found on the following web page: http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/news/headlines/8718538.Warminster_Church_opens_its_doors_for_tree_festival/ -- Josephine Jeremiah www.ianandjo.dsl.pipex.com

Hi Chris, I've had a look at the CD of Nonconformist Baptismal Registers in Bristol Record Office 1754 to 1837, produced by Bristol & Avon Family History Society www.bafhs.org.uk, but had no result for HAGUE. The CD covers Huguenot St. Mark's Chapel 1754 to 1807 and Moravian Kingswood from 1806 to 1837. Josephine -- Josephine Jeremiah www.ianandjo.dsl.pipex.com

Hi David, The witnesses to the 1813 marriage of John PALMER and Anne BODMAN were Mary BODMAN and Elizabeth PALMER. They could have been sisters or mothers of the bride and groom. The marriage was by licence so if you could obtain the licence details that might give a further lead. Anne BODMAN was from Calne so you might find more BODMANs there. I also have some BODMANs in my family tree, butI've gone back with them to Dyrham, Gloucestershire in the early 19th century. However, Dyrham is not far from the county border with Wiltshire. 2. Josephine Jeremiah
    3. Joining the Eng-Wiltshire List has reminded me that I have some books about Wiltshire on my bookshelves, which I haven't looked at for a while. One of these is 'Wiltshire Village' by Heather and Robin Tanner. This is a book of fiction, based on fact, about a typical Wiltshire village which goes by the fictitious name of Kington Borel. It was published in 1939 and republished in paperback in 1987 by Impact Books. (ISBN 0 245 54416 X) Besides the interesting text about a rural existence now long gone, I like it for the sixty black and white illustrations of country life in the first half of the 20th century. -- Josephine Jeremiah www.ianandjo.dsl.pipex.com

    3. Hello As Josephine Jeremiah has found the GRAYLE name was to be found in Malmesbury well before the introduction of registration in 1837. Frances George GRAYLE, b c 1822 in Malmesbury was my gggf. I have managed to find bits and pieces about his siblings and that his parents were Wiliam GRAYLE b 1796 also Malmesbury born and Mary LEVITT b c 1797 in Chippenham. Beyond either of those I have been able to find nothing. Is anyone able to help with earlier generations especially of the GRAYLEs, please? I would also love to be able to join tigether the GRAYLE name, which morphed into GRAYELL about 1830, with the GRAYELL and even the GRAIL names which also appear in Malmesbury people. Thanks Mike
