    3. I found some interesting Henrys b @1848 on ships lists after 1881, it might pay you to check the Ellis Island db thru stevemorse.org (the best search engine) you can view the manifests with free registration, EI won't allow downloading of images but you can view and play and print them. Did they have any children? The family are living in Ogbourne St George Wiltshire. 1861 Census shows Thomas and Susan (Parents) and 7 Siblings including Mary Jane Webb age 14. I cannot find any MorD for Mary Jane. 3. Hi Richard, I wait to see what other listers say but I think you might struggle with a Militia list for 1618. So I'm forced to suggest the usual approaches (not in any particular order) 1) check the List and Index Society Volumes to see if they have turned up something suitable 2) try checking other records from the parish chest deposited at WRO and local wills 3) Try E179 Tax Returns to see if you can trace Captain John Selfe (National Archive) 4) Try Bernau index (at Society of Geneologists) - I've had a fair amount of luck with this particularly depositions held at TNA which are not indexed at the deponent level in A2A 5) Try Wiltshire Record Society volumes 6) Call Wiltshire Record Office ! Best Regards Richard Heaton

    3. Hello all On the birth of Johns daughters Margaret b 1618 Woodford and Mary b1623 Woodford he is referred to as Captain John Selfe. I do not somehow think he was a sea captain maybe he was in the local militia. I do not know much about this subject. Can any fellow researcher suggest what records if any are available for research to enable me to find out more about Captain John Selfe's rank of captain. Many thanks Richard Self
