I would very much appreciate learning if there was a burial for his first wfe Mary, probably in Broughton Gifford, between 1729 and 1732. Can anyone help me, please? Beverley If you cannot track down a transcription of Tidcombe Parish Records you will find the LDS Family History Libraries have a film which can be ordered. the number is 1279359 Items 22 - 26. It covers a General Register (bapts., marriages & Burials) 1731 - 1812; baptisms 1813 - 1907; banns 1754 - 1890 and marriages 1754 - 1846. So if you can get to an LDS library this might answer your problem. Molly The phone number for the Parish Council is 01380 871461. I am sure they would be able to advise you. The email for the clerk of the Parish Council is stapc@btinternet.com and you could try this before you leave home. If you can find a resource at familysearch.org you can order pages, the price is very reasonable and they will print many pages from a book for you (but maybe only if the book is on micro). All the certificates they have online can be ordered as well. HI Beverley The LDS have films of the PRs and BTS for Tidcombe Wilts. Go to the familysearch site and click on the tab at the top of the page Search Records. A drop down list will appear and you need to select Library Catalog. Once there select Place Search, then in the top box put Tidcombe and Wiltshire in the lower box. You should then get 2 results, one for Tidcombe and the other for Tidcombe and Fosbury. I selected the one for just Tidcombe, and then selected Church Records from the list of titles available. to find that they have the BTs and PRs. Select one of the items and then in the top right corner of the page look for View Film Notes. This will take you forward to a page giving the details of the film/s and the relevant Film Numbers which you need to so that you can order a copy of that film in to your nearest LDS centre. The PRs for Tidcombe on the LDS film cover years 1731-1907, there may be gaps in those years Make the search that I describe above to see the full details of what exactly is on the film of the PRs for Tidcombe. Print out the details page to use when you want to order a copy of the film, When you see alongside the film number the word Items followed by numbers this is an indication as to where those particular PRs/BTs are on the film. There will no doubt be more than one parish included in the same film and you can scroll forward through the film to find those Item numbers given for your film. These films are made at the County Records Office at Trowbridge and will be films of the original PRs or BTs. There is a small hire fee per film and the film will be kept for a month at your nearest centre for you. You can then go as often as you can to view the film during that month. You might find that you have to order your film online, as I understand it not all LDS centres around the world are yet connected up to the online ordering system, but I could be wrong in this understanding. You can order the films online at this page of the LDS site. You have to register with the site in order to place your order and you pay with your credit card. https://film.familysearch.org/customer/account/login/ Otherwise you will have to go to your nearest LDS centre with the details of the film and film number to place your order and pay the hire fee. they will advise you when the film has arrived and you can make a booking for a reader to view your film. You will find a section on the home page of the familysearch site where you can search for LDS centres in your area. Being able to go through the PRs like this allows you to pick up other entries for your family that you might not have known existed. If you have found entries in an index of the PRs you can check them out against the film to see what else the entry contains. Hello: I am wondering if someone might have access to parish records for Broad Blunsdon, Wilts. I have been trying to locate where James and Charlotte CARTER (my great, great grandparents) lived in Wiltshire, before emigrating to Canada around 1830. James was born in 1769 and Charlotte was born 18, 1789. (I tend to think Charlotte was James' second wife). A very kind person gave me information that a James CARTER and Charlotte Sturmey were married in Hannington, Wilts on 12 Sept. 1815. As well they sent the following information. Mary Ann Carter, bapt. 13 Feb. 1825, Broad Blunsdon Wilts Ruth Carter, bapt. 18 Nov. 1827 Broad Blunsdon, Wilts These two names match up with my family, but there were also three other children. John Carter, born 24 Dec. 1813, Wilts Thomas Carter, born June 1817, Wilts James Frederick Carter, born 1 Sept. 1821 I have tried for sometime now to learn where James and his family lived in Wiltshire - the only information for this family, here in Canada, is that they lived in Wiltshire. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. - Joy in wet, rainy Ontario, Canada - I htend to think Charlotte was his second wife h
Hi Adrian, I can't find a marriage for Stephen Fell but have found a burial record for Stephen Fell, son of Isaac below. Obviously this is the grandson of your Stephen Fell. Stephen FELL married Mary (?) probably in Wiltshire sometime before their first known child Isaack was born on 14 March 1732/33 (as recorded in the Heddington parish register). Their subsequent children were baptised in Heddington. I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who has come across the elusive marriage. Adrian Yorkshire
