    3. Hello Julie I use www.multimap.com for modern maps. There doesn't seem to be a Slob Lane but there is a Slag Lane. With just a quick look I couldn't see Marsh Road but if you know where Marsh Road is on your old map, you might be able to find it on the current map and then work out if Slob Lane has become Slag Lane. Susan jgoldstein@optusnet.com.au wrote: Is anyone able to tell me if Marsh Road, located close to The Crossroads or Slob Lane also very close to these roads still exist. Also would someone direct me to a map that may show these locations.I can find Marsh Rd on 19th century map. 3. I am now looking for a place of burial for John Stent died 1840 and Youstiss Stent died 1881 in Warminster. The IGI says Ebenezer Chapel Warminster so is there somewhere I can look, through the internet, for cemetery records? The BMD entry for John's death says Frome but so far no-one has been able to find a grave there. Once again many thanks for any help. Regards, Dorothy, Canada

I have many marriage certificates and the answer is no it doesnt always say the father is deceased , I have many where I know the father was dead and it still describes the profession . Best wishes Valerie

    3. Can I add to this - lots of people have helped. Just one more question. If Edward Hooper was deceased by 1883, would it have said so on his daughter's wedding certificate? It describes her father as Commercial Traveller, but it would appear that he was dead by 1871. Dear Wiltshire List, I have just joined to see if I can get any further with my Uncle's family - he isn't online. His Grandmother was Kate HOOPER, born in Chelsea in 1856. Her parents were Edward HOOPER and Jane COOK. I have found a marriage between an Edward and Jane, in December 1843 in Melksham - registered Trowbridge - on the IGI. I am sending for the certificate, but thought I'd see whether anyone has these people in their tree. Edward was a Bootmaker (Journeyman) in 1856, and a Commercial Traveller in 1883. I imagine he wasn't from Trowbridge, but Jane probably was. Is anyone able to add to any of this? Hopefully, Liz Elizabeth Lane Worthing West Sussex liz_lane@ntlworld.com

    3. Dorothy, For a general question, you could try either Wiltshire Record Office , Trowbridge (where the wills and grants of administration are held), they have been digitising the Wills, and may be able to check their indexes, or if they are still in progress, if you have details http://www.redbreast.co.uk/nimrod/ If you know the name and approximate date the Nimrod index should enable you to request a copy from Wilts Record Office. 3. Hello Listers This my first posting to the list and hopeful not my last. I am trying to find my Joseph Greenaways trial record from the Wiltshire Assizes of 1820. Could SKS help me please. I believe that George Jones was his co-accused and his brother - in - law. Joseph was from Calne in Wiltshire and I have his marriage from IGI to Sarah Jones. Joseph was transported to Sydney and landed in Dec 1820. George went to Tasmania and also landed late 1820. I believe their trial date is somewhere about March of the same year. Thanking You Cheers Pam Port Macquarie NSW Australia

    1. Re: [ENG-WIL] Quidhampton death
    2. Hello Philippa They might have been buried at Fugglestone, but Bemerton (St John) is closer. There are also Netherhampton and possibly Wilton. There might have been family plots in a nearby churchyard, so the closest church may not be the right one. The Streetmap site will show you the location at http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=411500&y=130500&z=3&sv=quidhampton&s t=3&tl=Quidhampton,+Wiltshire+[City/Town/Village]&searchp=newsearch.srf&mapp =newmap.srf The burial records will be at the County Record Office - email address wsro@wiltshire.gov.uk and might also be available at the Wiltshire family History Society Their website is at www.wiltshirefhs.co.uk email address: society@wiltshirefhs.co.uk Good luck, Dot on 7/5/06 6:05 am, Philippa Garnsey at pgar9629@bigpond.net.au wrote: > My ggg grandparents died at Quidhampton in 1864 (John Hale) and his wife Ann > (nee Macey) in 1869. > > Could anyone tell me where they might be buried?
