I would love it and I am sure my Cousin (sort of *G*) Mike would like it too. Especially since he has a lot of Pike kinfolks. I 'think' we both have Commoners in our tree several in laws seemed to be at any rate. Doe your book give any Lewis or Po/antings? Im not sure if you are talking about the IGI microfiche indexes or IGI on the net. I have heard that the IGI on line is not complete and it changes periodically and sometimes its best to go back to the fiche. I would like to personally thank Jeff, Janet and David for their help in locating the records for Aquilla Thomas Collins. This is exactly what I needed. The Wiltshire listers are the best! Peggy
As you will have seen from the CWGC site, your man died on 19 Aug 1920 and is buried in Collingbourne Ducis (St Andrew) Churchyard.. He served with the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry. Now as I cannot find his name among those who were awarded WWl Campaign medals, I suspect that he served in either the 2/1st or 3/1st both of which stayed in the UK. In general, all those who saw service overseas were awarded a campaign medal. Peggy, there is a CD: Soldiers died in the Great War. I no longer have access to it but some listers may have. Also here in Maidenhead Berks is the Commonwealth War Graves Office and they are accessible online. Check with Google. With such a name as your ancestor, he should be easy to find. Hi Listers, Can anyone tell me how I can find information about a relative who was supposedly killed in the 1st World War? His name is Aquila Thomas Collins, born in 1896 in Collingbourne Ducis. Are there any British Military records online or any place I can write to find out what happened to him and where he was killed? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Peggy

The village you want is Broad Chalke which lies in the valley of the River Ebble west of Salisbury. The website http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ will show you the location. there is a zoom facility in the bottom right corner of the map, which will allow you to reduce the scale and see Salisbury and the surrounding villages.
Does anyone know where to find a list of Commoners for Malmesbury? eliz
Hi Jane Definitely Bootmaker. I was talking to the registrar in Plymouth about a death certificate and was asked what his occupation was - he was a shoemaker. The registrar also thought it said bookmaker until I suggested it was bootmaker. Although I am not of this faith, I suspect that only females or males appear in some IGI parish listings because those were added to the IGI when LDS (Mormon) posthumous baptisms were carried out by LDS members, male or female as appropriate. And perhaps the "other half" either has not yet been done or has not been added to the IGI for some other reason. These "half" listings "seem to/might" predate the LDS effort, much appreciated, to put complete transcriptions in the IGI, apparently with/without the accomplishment of the LDS religious duties. The IGI, at least originally, was only an index of deceased persons who had received LDS "ordinances" but with the adding of complete transcriptions has departed, apparently, from the original intent or may still be adding only those who have gone through its procedures. If anyone wishes to correct/expand on the above, please do! Sally
Hello to Fellow Listers. I always seem to find that there are marriages when I want baptisms and baptisms when I want marriages or the coverage finishes a year after what I want!! I was astounded at the coverage of births in Great Somerford, brilliant. But can anyone explain why the great coverage of Dauntsey baptisms is only females? Mike
