Hello Fellow Wilts Descendants. I am interested the offspring from a marriage in 1825 in Great Somerford between Ann PYKE and Josiah HANKS. Ann was born in Great Somerford c 1796/7 and I imagine that Josiah would have been born about the same time. I found a Josiah HANKS in 1861 in East Ilsley, Berks., b c1830/1, in Cole Park. He was at school in 1841 in Cirencester, and was living with brother Joseph (b c 1827/8) and sister Ann (b c 1832/3) in Archer Farm, Westport in 1851. It would seem logical that these are the children of Josiah and Ann BUT!! I would welcome anyone with connections, information or ideas. TIA. Mike in a still wet Whakatane NZ

Hi all, I'm currently chasing my GGG grandfather Joseph WHEELER's second wife Ruth AISHER(?). That name was read from the Dilton Marrriage PR's recently, but the transcriber said it was difficult to read, so is open to question. They married on 12 June 1803. She didn't have any children, and married Joseph when he was in his early 60's, so it's not unlikely she was in her 40's at the time of her marriage. I've found a Ruth AISHER on the IGI, born Market Lavington 1762, the daughter of Thomas AISHER and (probably) Mary HOLT married 11 Nov 1744. Market Lavington is 12 miles from Dilton. Other children born to Thomas were: Richard 1745, Thomas 1747, John 1750, Caleb 1755, Thomas 1756, Sarah 1757, Jane 1758, William 1760, and William 1764. No mothers names were given, but it's likely they were the same Thomas going by the sequence of birthdates. Does anyone have any connection with this family? Any info would be appreciated so I can potentially discount or confirm this Ruth. BTW, my Ruth WHEELER nee AISHER later married Jeremiah SINGER of Rodden as a widow in 1819, if you can tie her in there. I have her age as 70 in the 1841 census, making her approximately 77-82 on her death in 1848. If she was born in 1862, she'd actually have been 85... but ages were wrong more often than right! Thanks Patsy for the information on my Stewart/Stuart Family and also the Nash Information. I had just found them in the census just a couple of days before you posted. There is a Charles Stewart who died in 1854 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and who I highly suspect could be my GGG Grandfather. In an earlier post I mentioned that the family was last living in Trowbridge in 1851, then later his wife Mary Ann married William Nash in 1855 in Melksham, Wiltshire. I wrote to the Wiltshire.gov.uk to see about who might be the informant and she wrote back to me saying it was a coroner's case so there wouldn't be an informant. Does anybody know how one might go about getting a copy of the Coroner's report, or what it might contain that could prove this could be my GGG Grandfather. I was also wondering if their are any online indexes to cemeteries in the Trowbridge area. Thank You. Bonnie James USA
I neglected to mention my 2Xggf was mentioned as a Burgess in the 1855 Directory and I see a number of "connections" in the 1839.
