Hello Betty The 1841 Census will only tell you whether the person was born in the county of residence or not. I have only found one Lawrence Burton and he was in Lancashire - but not with Joseph as a father. There were no Josephs who fit in Tisbury or the surrounding villages. If you could give us a little more information regarding dates of birth etc it might help the search Best wishes, Dot In Salisbury, Wilts On 30/7/06 15:31, "Phyllis Steel" <steeps85@tpg.com.au> wrote: > Would any kind Lister with access to the 1841 census a look-up for me > please, For Joseph and Elizabeth (Betty) BURTON, with at least one son > Lawrence. > > I would particularly like to know if Joseph and his wife were born in Derby, > but all info would be greatly appreciated. > > with thanks > Phyllis Bartlett steel > from Qld. The third lean month in succession (between work and the weather !) Two Copies of the Bath Chronicle (1761, 1762), Freemans Journal (1771), Baldwins London Weekly Journal (1789), two more Salisbury & Winchester Journals (1784,1803) and a Dublin Journal (1806). The 1803 Salisbury & Winchester Journal (which is rather large!), includes a Gamekeeper's list for Dorset and a Militia Officer's list for Hampshire. More fun though is the Bath Chronicle (1761) which includes a line "Ladies ears bored ..." refering to ear piercing ! Finally, given my poor effort above I decided to add another "list" (mainly surnames) , a copy of the "Eton Election" 1846 - a list of masters and pupils at Eton, Bucks. As usual the Index is accessed through the page below : http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dutillieul/index.html Use the Freefind Search box to locate references Webpages, then use Ctrl F to locate the precise reference (as most pages - being complete newpapers - take some time to read through !) Cheers Richard H
Are you able to visit an LDS family history centre. Here up you should be able to find what you seek on the International Genealogical Index on m/fiche. If not go to Family Search International on the internet, search surname GOSNEY and see what turns up. Or try googling the surname/place name. Lastly try the county on GENUKI.
