    3. Hello, Here is a link that will take you to a research planning aid for Wiltshire http://www.ancestrysolutions.com/RPAWilts.html From the table of parishes you will see that Chippenham is largely transcribed on the IGI. Batch numbers have been included on the research planning aid to help narrow your search on the familysearch.org website down to just that parish. Please note, though, that there are time periods missing from the transcribed records. Corsham has been largely transcribed but is accessible on the British Vital Records Index, 2nd edition, rather than on the IGI. The British Vital Records Index was also produced by the LDS and can be purchased directly from the familysearch.org web site. You might want to try asking around to see if someone close to you has a copy of the BVRI. Lacock is a different story entirely. It does not appear that Lacock is available on any of the major indices - e.g. IGI, BVRI, Pallots, Boyds or via the familyhistoryonline website. Here, you will have to try the Wiltshire Family History Society, the diocesan archives office or resort to ordering a microfilm through your closest LDS Family History Centre. I hope you find the research planning aid useful. Best wishes, Susan D. I have tried to find when James Elms[Elmes] was born and his parents. The family trace leads to Lacock. I believe it could be 1775-77. I cannot find anything on the family search site to show James's parents. Any help appreciated. > > I know James Married Betty Emmett in 1799 at Chippenham > > ______________________________

Also a James John Lye owns land also but lives in New Zealand. The oldest info I could find was an Emma Lye who had an inventory of goods and chattels to the value of £385 -7s-4d on the 17th October 1636 wife of the late William Lye. Also its says she is seised for the term of the lives of Grace Murfoote, wife of Walter Murfoote, and Margaret Hood, of the four rother beasts leaze in Lttleton Purnell, of the clear yearly value of £3- 10s.
