Hello, Eliz I would be very grateful if you could check for my William Phillips he appears to have started out as a taylor in Devizes born 1756 in Little Cheverill. William died on 30 December 1844 at Coldharbour Steeple Ashton where he was recorded as a farmer. He also leased the Toll Gate in Coldharbour. William Green was born May 24, 1804 in England to an Edward Green (Abt. 1785- Abt. 1871). William married Rachel Teagle in 1832 in Oldbury-on-the-hill, Gloucestershire. She was the daughter George and Elizabeth Teagle. Before Rachel married William she already had a son George William Teagle (later Green as he was adopted be Wm), he was born April 21, 1831 in Oldbury... Once Wm and Rachel were married they had a son William Green born April 30 1836 and was babtized in the Brinkworth Primitive Church in Brinkworth, Wiltshire. In addition to William the two had 4 more children born in England; Edward Green b. 1839 in Wiltshire (according to death cert.) Frederick Green b. Abt. 1840, James H. Green b.February 08, 1842 in Gloucestershire (according to death cert.), and Louise Green b. August 15, 1843 in Gloucestershire (according to obit). In abt. 1845 the family immigrated to Canada along with father Edward, settling in the Howick Twp. area, having another three children (Jane, David and Sophia). I have much information concerning the family in North America but little of their English roots. Any information would be appreciated, Thanks in advance, Robbie McCauley
Hi List, Thanks so much for your help, I didnot think that there would be a place, I have the film Heytesbury, and found that Benjamin and Catherine had 2 more kids, I cannot find his marriage, but he had Elizabeth and John in Keynsham Somerset, Mary and Thomas in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, but Charles is not there. I looked on the I.G.I and there's a Charles Moodey in this village of Highsbury, when they say about I question it, but the parents are the same.I know he was born around 1829, as he was 12yrs old in the 1841 census. Many thanks to all who helped on this and yes I would like to see if there is a charles Moody in Frome. Thanyou all Regards Wens
Wens, this is quite likely the place you're looking for... I have a lot to do with the Frome area, and did a quick check for MOODY's, and there are quite a few in Frome. Who are you looking for? Can anyone please tell me where the PR's for Christ Church Anglican and St Denys Anglican in Warminster (1700's) would be held? Is there anyone who has records for these churches that are actually PR's and not Bishops Transcripts please as I have a question about a spelling and possible gender error. Hi, I am looking for any trace of this couple after 1853. Rebecca Green PECK/PYKE**, ch Dec 1831 **(under PECK) in Bulford Wiltshire, Parents William & Tryphena (Green) married Oct 1853 in Bulford Wiltshire to **(under PYKE) Edmund COOPER. born ca 1831, Amesbury Wiltshire. Parents Robert & Mary Both Edmund and Rebecca are found with their parents on the 1841 & 1851 Census but have completely disappeared after their marriage. I cannot find a death or a remarriage that fits the right time frame. I have checked ships lists, US & Canadian Census and all of the British Isles. Is anyone else researching this family and where could they be? Thanks Robin
Tony In 1881 he is living at 44 Charles Street, Lambeth with 3 children, Henry (4) William (3) and Annie (1) In 1861 there is a Henry Young (8) living with his widowed father George (35) and 2 sisters Anna (11) and Mary Jane (4) at Alvediston Street, Alvediston. According to the census, this Henry was born in Alvediston, Wilts. Can't find him in 1871. There are quite a few Henry Young Marriages to a Mary on the FreeBMD site which is probably worth looking at. Hi list, I am looking for a marriage Benjamin Moody, b. 1784 Heytesbury, to Cathrine, there first child Elizabeth b.1816 in Keynsham Benjamin was a Blacksmith. I think Cathrine,s last name is Small, and she was b, 1788 Shrewton Wiltshire. Can some one help me. In the 1841 census Benjamin is married to and Ann, So I am guessing that Cathrine has died. The children listed John, Thomas, and Charles are children of Benjamin and Cathrine, but little Jane who is 7 months old is Ann's, so he might have remarried in 1840 again. I would also like to hear from anyone researching this family. Many thanks. Wendy
