There is a Donhead St Mary and Donhead St Andrew in Wiltshire, unless this was an earlier name. The best site (I think) for finding places is http://maps.google.co.uk If you type in 'Donhead St Andrew' it will take you to a map of the area and then you can select an ariel view too. Donhead is right on the edge of the higher resolution photos. Hope this is some help :-) Kate in Devon, UK

Surnames: Langworthy, Forster, Tindal, Garland Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/EUC.2ACI/3197 Message Board Post: I have genealogical information about my Forster family that indicates several births in Donnington, Wilts, in the late 1600's. The closest I have been able to come to this place name is Donnington St. Andrew and Donnington St. Mary, found in a list of Wiltshire place names with no other information given. However, an on-line search has yielded no additional information that would enable me to find the places on a map. Perhaps someone familiar with Wiltshire could give me some information that would help solve the mystery of the elusive Donnington, Wilts. Thanks.

I believe he was a member of the branch of the MEREWETHER family of Calne. 3. Hello Sherrye We have a few Wiltshire Adlams in our online tree. They lived in and around Donhead St Mary and Tollard Royal in Wiltshire. We don't (at the moment) have a John Adlam whose birth date matches yours. Our family database is at http://gw.geneanet.org/index.php3?b=joyell And includes many Wiltshire families If you enter Adlam in the search box you will see those we have so far. To view their individual pages click on a person's name According to the 1841 census there appear to have been 4 John Adlams born at around the right time. There may have been others who had died, emigrated or got lost in the 'creative' indexing of the census Do you have any other information which would help to narrow the field, such as whether he was married in England, when he emigrated etc. Dot In Salisbury, Wilts On 30/9/06 08:00, "SherryeW@aol.com" <SherryeW@aol.com> wrote: > Hi, > I am trying to trace the origins of my ADLAM line, and I wondered if anyone > on this list has researched the ADLAM name. 3. Hi, I seem to remember seeing records of criminal cases complete with the alleged crime, person bringing the charge, and the sentence but I can't find it anymore. Maybe it was for a different county and I'm just confused. Anyway, does anyone know where I might find the record for one George TOLSON (chr: 9/4/1815 Wroughton) who was in Devizes prison in 1851 with the notation "destination: upon orders". Thanks, Bob

    3. You might like to try the "Family Search International" web site click on "Family Search Catalogue" tab and enter place name (parish and county) and anything that has been filmed can be ordered in thru you local LDS Centre. These are filmes of Parish Registers and usually only contain christening data but occasionally the vicar would enter the birth date as well. If you cant get to FHC try the Family Search IGI search on same web site. Just enter name & surname and a list will appear for you to check out. 3. Hi Sylvia It seems from your email address that you're resident in the UK - I would write directly (email or snail mail) to the Wiltshire and Swindon County Record Office, County Hall East, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge BA14 8BS - you need to Google for the email/web address - and ask them if they can do a look up for you in the Parish Church records from Hilperton. You can work out from the marriage cert whether the family was Anglican, if they were the records may appear on the IGI/Family Search but less likely if Catholic or from smaller Church, Baptist etc. I'd also try to work out (from census') which member of their family came from down that way - likely to be Mum or Dad. Hope this helps Regards Tony Fuller

    1. [ENG-WILTSHIRE] William FISHLOCK - Heddington
    2. I am trying to trace the death of my 3xggfather William Fishlock christened 20 Dec. 1778. His wife was Dinah (Harrell). Dinah was recorded in the 1841 census with some of her children. Her last child was b. abt 1838, so if the reason William was not on the census was because he died, it wd. be within a window of about 3 yrs. Any information will be much appreciated if listers can help. Henry Johnston

    3. Hello everyone, After several years break from Family History I'm trying to pick up the threads again and wondered if anyone could help me shed some light on a problem called Martina Brewer Morley. I have her marriage cert. (she was married to Nathaniel Fortescue Taylor on 21 Dec 1841 at St James Westminster) and have found her on every census in West Ham area, last one 1891 she was deaf, widowed and aged 66. But on each of these census she is reported as born Hilperton Wiltshire or in one case Hilperton Somerset. From the ages in the census it seems that she would have been born about 1825. On her marriage cert. it claims she was a minor but had parents permission. Please does anyone have access to birth info for that time and place. The plot thickens because all of her siblings were born in St Pancras, Bermondsey, and Lambeth, she is the only one to have been born outside of London, also she had a sister Montena Brewer Morley, born 1837 in Lambeth, at one time I thought she could have been one and the same but as each census has Hilperton as birth place, I have given up on that idea. Brewer as a middle name is used throughout my family so it could easily have been used for both ladies. I will be so grateful for any grain of help Sylvia

    3. Hi All, Does anyone have any information on William CROOK and Mary Anne STEVENS. They were married, 31 Aug 1822 in Bishops Cannings. Mary Anne's father was not given in the record. The census in 1851 and 1861 says she was born in Horton. I have searched the area around and have been unable to find any information on her. She would have been born about 1801?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kathleen
