Hi Fred Was John Cocker a shoe maker? Found a couple in Southampton in 1841, John and Lydia Cocker, both from out of county at 19 Canal Walk, St Mary, Southampton. He was a shoemaker and the ages for both were rounded to 25. Will send you a copy off list. I think I might owe you a few favours from the Bristol & Somerset list! Cheers Bev
Have you searched for Hester? I was going to search Ancestry but it seems to be down, the search anyway. But I have a bunch of women whose proper first name I don't know, they get enumerated as Hester in one census and Esther (of many spellings) in others. I see I have a note of these burials from the BTs [didn't connect the "Joel" though], but I still don't know what, if any, connection there is with my William Knight who married Lucy Peck .............. [That's not me asking you in particular, just a general question!] Carol
Hi Robin I don't think there's any connection. I'm trying to put all the Figheldean KNIGHTS into families at the moment which might help with getting a connection. I also recently found this Susanna's baptism on the IGI when rummaging for a Rhoda KNIGHT: Rhoda's baptism being 16 December 1810, and also a Maria, all with parents Thomas and Jael. Does anyone know anything about this particular KNIGHT family - Thomas and Jael? The reason I am asking is that I have Rhoda KNIGHT and Robert KNIGHT as witnesses to the marriage of my William KNIGHT and Lucy PECK on 26 November 1826 at Figheldean and wondered what the link might be as I am stuck with no baptism or parents for William, born about 1801. I realise the Rhoda who is a witness could be the wife of Robert rather than born a KNIGHT, but I've not found anything on Robert or Rhoda. Carol
Thanks for those KNIGHT,s. I don't think they connect to my line. ISAAC(S) My surname interests are the Isaac(s) and Clarke families of Nettleton and West Kington. The earliest person we have in this family is Jeremiah Isaac born circa 1779, in West Kington as stated in the 1851 census. I have viewed the film of PR's for both places and there is no entry for a Jeremiah Isaac(s). I do have his marriage to Sarah Newman 11 June 1807 at W Kington and the baptisms of their children. Would very much appreciate any help you can offer me. Many thanks Carolyn in NZ.
