If you search on website http://history.wiltshire.gov.uk/heritage/wills_search.php you will see two references to a James Arnold of Corsley Wiltshire in 1850 & 1851. It looks as though there was a bit of litigation! You will have to write off to Wiltshire Record Office for copies of the documents. They may let you pay by credit card Ros -----Original Message-----
You didn't get him in 1850? I didn't and I didn't get him in 1851 which might place his emigration very well in that year. I have been reading the biography and found it very interesting that the sister married a Corp which you think might be Marys maiden name. Were you able to find Marys emigration? If James Arnold sr was born in 1801 or 1802 then he could not be married with children in 1810 he would have been very young. Sharon M. Hi Have been off list for some time and thought it was worth another attempt to try to get more information on the FOOT(e) families of Berwick St John and Gussage St Michael. We believe that there were at least two families in the area that had split from one original family - one well off and the other not so well off! The principal family of Robert and Fortune Foot was also of Berwick St John although Fortune was of Gussage St Michael. Our particular branch was Joseph Foot and Catherine Dibben - Joseph born in Berwick St John and we belive Catherine born in Gussage St Michael - they were married in the 1780's at Gussage. Joseph' and catherine's children were siblings were William, Samuel, Henry, Martha, Sarah, Thomas, John, Charlotte and Robert all born between 1786 and 1804. samuel was my 3 x great grandfather. Would be interested to know if anyone can shed any light on the brick wall. Our researcher is almost convinced that Joseph was related to Robert in some way, maybe a cousin perhaps.
