    3. Hello Edward Thank you so much for your kind message. It was a pleasure to help you. All part of the service. :-) Wendy will be a great admin of the list and I'm sure will go out of her way to help you and any other subscribers that need assistance. Mosts of the RootsWeb lists will be reformed elsewhere, so I'll still have a job and will be able to successfully avoid my own research in the foreseeable future. Take care and enjoy your research! 2. Hello Wendy, Welcome to the hot seat and I am sure all the list's subscribers will echo that comment. I have many ancestral roots in the county although I am a native of Southampton. Before I started research in 1989 I was totally unaware that I had any ancestry away from Hampshire and Wiltshire has resulted in my ancestry being highest than elsewhere, mainly around the Vale of Pewsey and a few neighbouring places. I have been a member of Wiltshire F.H.S. for twenty-five years and Hampshire F.H.S for thirty years. I look forward to knowing your future plans for us all. Regards, Rod.

This one's not so bad; in fact, it's very good! Effective immediately, Wendy Archer, a very experienced researcher as well as list owner, is taking over the administration of this list. Until Ancestry shuts it down, Wendy will oversee this list and she will create and co-ordinate moving this list to a new host. I've enjoyed my time as your list administrator and will miss you all. Best of luck in 2020. Wishing you all much success with your family research! Kindest regards, Lynne _______________________________________________

    3. Hello Eng-Wiltshire list members! Many thanks to Lynne for her adminship of this list. She and I have today done some changes to which county lists we each admin, which suit us both. I live close to Wiltshire, and have belonged to this list for a many years, and am intrigued how so many different of my family lines come from Wiltshire. On my father's side my grandmother was Naomi WHATLEY, who lived in Kent, and whose line goes back through London to Edward WHATLEY, who came to London from Calne, where he was born in 1808. On my husband's side, his great grandfather Frederick ARCHER was born in 1849 in Badbury, close to the M4, as you approach Swindon from the east. He left Swindon to be a policeman in London. In contrast of direction, my mother-in-law's ancestors were from Wiltshire, but followed railway occupations to move to Bristol and then Highbridge in Somerset. And yet another Wiltshire link is through our son-in-law. I look forward to the future of this list, and hearing from you, its subscribers, and have yet to decide where it will make its next home. 3. Hello Lynne Before you disappear from being list admin I would like to thank you for all that you have done to keep this list going. But personally I would like to thank you again for the special effort that you made for me when my old email address was compromised. You will never be forgotten for the help that I received from you in Oct 2018 when you very quickly changed my email address for all 12 mailing lists and contacted Roots web on my behalf. Thank you. Pity that Ancestry saw fit to dump the lists but I'm quite pleased with my Ancestry discounts but now wonder if I receive those because of the closing of Rootsweb. I wish you well in the future and hope that being a dumped list admin will enable you to devote more time to your own research. Thanks / Diolch. 3. This indeed a sorry day, Lynne. While we are aware the lists have not been receiving the same support as in earlier years, they still provide an incredible resource for participants to help each other and establish common interests. I just see it as another effort to force us all to subscribe to Ancestry. Thank you for your personal supervision and help with the list over a number of years. Kind regards... 3. Hi Debbie You will not need an account to search for and read posts made to the lists in the past The archives will be searchable and are also found with google searches Although the usability of the archives is far inferior to that they were As far as the boards are concerned, you would need a registered account with Ancestry but not a paid account But have always found the boards inferior to the lists personally Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 07/01/2020 21:28, Debbie via ENG-WILTSHIRE wrote: > Very sad since we put our information on here and now we have to have pay for an account to search it!
