Saturday 20 Sep 1845 (p. 2, col. 8) THE EARL OF CARLISLE'S BIRTH DAY.-The birth day of the Earl of Carlisle was celebrated at the Howard's Arms inn, Brampton, on Wednesday last, by a party of gentlemen resident in the town and neighbourhood, upwards of forty in number. W. RAMSHAY, Esq., of Gilsland, presided, and Mr. COULTHARD was in the vice-chair. Among those present were John RAMSHAY, Esq., Naworth Castle; W. CARRICK, Esq., Brampton; John GILL, Esq., Cumrew; James THOMPSON, Esq., Kirkhouse; John ADDISON, Esq., Banks House; John LEE, Esq., Brampton; Mr. RICHARDSON, Cumcatch; Mr. GRAHAM, surgeon; Dr. John GRAHAM; Mr. ELLIOT; Mr. Anthony ROBINSON; Mr. Jacob MOSES, Tarn House; Mr. ARMSTRONG, surgeon; Mr. HALLIBURTON; Mr. MODLEN; Mr. G. ROUTLEDGE, London; Mr. ATKINSON; Mr. W. SEWELL; Mr. WANNOP, Scotby; Mr. LEECH, Northsceugh, &c. Dinner was at four o'clock, and was provided by Mrs. LEE, in her usual style of profusion and excellence. After the usual loyal toats [sic], the healths of the Earl of Carlisle, the Hon. C. HOWARD, M.P., and others, were severally proposed, in suitable terms, and responded to with enthusiasm. A committee was appointed to make arrangements for the celebration of future anniversaries; and the party was kept up with spirit until a late hour.
