Hi Stephen Not sure if your question has been answered yet but I had the same problem with my Derbyshire ancestors and went for the Bishops transcripts- a very intense session at the record office- with the originals. I can't do that for everyone, but it did get me back to 1630 when I had only been able to get back to 1800s on the micro fiches. LDS have since put quite few more of the baptisms on line. When I was at the Kendal office they didn't have any original registers I could view. Are duplicates of the Bishops transcripts still held at some churches. If so--does anyone have experience of this in terms of helpfulness of vicars/legibility?
