    3. What appears to be James and Alice Newby appear in the 1841 census, he is a gardener aged 47 and Alice is 45. But there is no Isabella at home, of course by then she would be 21. The have 4 Children at home, James 12, Thomas 10, Jane 6 and George 4, living at Elleray Cottage, Applethwaite, Westmorland. (Applethwaite is an old area that has now been taken into either Ambleside or Windermere) Also in the house is James aged 85 which is probably James father. All are said to be born in county, unfortunately the 1841 census never says where. The only Isabella in the 1841 which sort of matches is a 20 year old who is a servant of a banker in Liverpool, she was not born in Lancashire but it does not say where she was born. I can't find Richard in the 1841 census at all. Isabella was baptised 1st March 1821 in Winster. -----Original Message----- From: Maria Thomas [mailto:mnmthomas@hotmail.com] Sent: 24 September 2008 04:10 To: ENG-WESTMORLAND Subject: [ENG-WESTMORLAND] Lloyd & Newby Family's abt 1848 Hi everyone Newie to this list, I am looking for further information on Richard LLOYD and Isabella NEWBY's families. I have a copy of their marriage certificate in 1848 at Winderemere, Westmoreland. The next thing I have is a birth of a son in Sydney in 1853. I am trying to narrow the year in which they sailed. Richard LLOYD b abt 1812 in Derbyshire?, Wales (daughter's birth cert) or Liverpool, England (death cert but informant is not related). His occupation on Marriage & in Australia was Gardener (may be he worked with Isabella's father). Father - John LLOYD - Coachman, Mother - Alice HARDIMAN. Any info on where he was born or siblings would be appreciated. Isabella NEWBY b abt 1820 Westmoreland. Father - James NEWBY - Gardener, Mother - Alice (surname may be HARRISON). Any info on where he was born or siblings would be appreciated. So would anyone have access to the 1841 or 1851 Census? Or anything else that may give me clues. Thank youMariaNSW, Australia _________________________________________________________________ Win a Hotmail Go-Kart to race at Bathurst.
