Please can you help me, I am trying to find out anything about LOW MILLS in Westmorland, and also anything about Winder & Heaton, who I believe started up an ironworks there in the late 1700's ? Yours hopefully Shelagh Winder.

The company then moved to Crooklands near Kendal in 1750, and then Gatebeck near Kendal in 1818. They then moved to Low Mills in Kendal in 1826, Lound Foundry in Kendal in 1850, and then finally to Castle Foundry here at Canal Head, in 1893. I know K Shoes had a factory at Low Mills, but not sure if that is factory that was next to Romney Bridge or the one further down river closer to Natland, but it is that general area.
