Hi David, That's really great work that you are doing. I can add a little bit of information to one of the deaths that you listed - >Atkinson, Joseph 23rd inst 64 the Old Oak, Windermere28-Sep-1883 4 Joseph's son, JOSEPH TURNER ATKINSON, married CHARLOTTE EDITH POWNALL in late 1882 and they took over at the Old Oak, Windermere until the son himself died on 17 March 1909 & left effects worth £2238 17s 10d. Derek.
The full notice read as flollows: On Sunday the 23rd inst at the Old Oak, Windermere, somewhat suddenly, Mr. Joseph Atkinson, Wine and Spirit merchant, aged 64 years, and deeply regretted by a large circle of friends. Deceased's remains were interred in Troutbeck Churchyard on Wednesday last. >>Atkinson, Joseph 23rd inst 64 the Old Oak, Windermere28-Sep-1883 4 > >Joseph's son, JOSEPH TURNER ATKINSON, married CHARLOTTE EDITH POWNALL in late 1882 and they took over at the Old Oak, Windermere until the son himself died on 17 March 1909 & left effects worth £2238 17s 10d. > >Derek.
In a senior moment I incorrectly gave the wrong surname for Joseph Turner Atkinson's wife in my earlier email. It should have said Joseph Turner Atkinson married Charlotte Edith FLEMING in late 1882. (The surname Pownall, which I inadvertently quoted, was in fact Charlotte's mother's maiden name). Derek.
