    3. This is part of a web site to be found at: - http://www.visitcumbria.com/kendal/kendal-canal.htm Castle Foundry: This was an iron foundry. The original company, Winder & Heaton, were based in Lancaster and opened in 1703. The company then moved to Crooklands near Kendal in 1750, and then Gatebeck near Kendal in 1818. They then moved to Low Mills in Kendal in 1826, Lound Foundry in Kendal in 1850, and then finally to Castle Foundry here at Canal Head, in 1893. Hope this gives some assistance Jane in Redcar -----Original Message----- From: eng-westmorland-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-westmorland-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Shelagh Winder Sent: 02 December 2008 12:42 To: eng-westmorland@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-WESTMORLAND] Low Mills Please can you help me, I am trying to find out anything about LOW MILLS in Westmorland, and also anything about Winder & Heaton, who I believe started up an ironworks there in the late 1700's ?
