    3. Ambleside Herald & Lakes News 21 Sep 1883 Page 4 In Memorium With regret, it becomes a duty to record in our obituary of this week the decease of a well known resident of the village of Windermere. The late THOMAS GEE or "Tom" as he was familiarly called, though not born to high estate or reared in the lap of luxury, has passed from our midst with the sympathetic regrets of hundreds of residents and visitors who knew him as he was. About 16 years ago he came to reside at the Windermere Hotel, from the neighbourhood of Milnthorpe, and for years acted alternately as chaise driver and boots at the above well known hostelry, where he gained the respect of all with whom he had dealings; but becoming subject to epileptic attacks he had to relinquish that position and for some years back has acted as a "general utility" to the place. Always civil and obliging, and willing to assist in whatever was required, his well known figure clad in somewhat eccentric garb will be missed by hundreds of periodical visitants to Windermere. The attacks to which he was a victim increased as Time rolled on, and on Tuesday week he succumbed to a violent series of convulsions, at the comparatively early age of 37. His remains were followed to the grave by a large number of residents of the place. David Leverton Leverton, Stevens, Clibborn, Dodgson, Hird, Stalker ulpha@telus.net
