If you will post a note to the list with a BRIEF description, and limited to a specific question, I can send the local historians a note....they have a wonderful new parish archives room with all kinds of goodies. If you have anything to share on your CR ancestors, they will be thrilled to have a copy. Please include your name and email address so they can email you back, then you can get into more detail with them. 3. Hello Sarah I'd love to know if they have any more info on the Holme family of Barnskew - seems all their baptisms, marriages and burials were at Crosby Ravensworth. In particular I'd like to confirm that Thomas Holme (bap 8 Mar 1759; died 27 Dec 1843) was son of Henry the younger (b.c 1721, buried 27/1/1798) who in turn was son of Henry the elder, believe died circa. 1756. All 3 were west ward high constables and I would love to find out more about the family, even if it's just the name of Thomas's mother as I can't find reference to her at all regards Cath Wooff cath@wooff.co.uk ----- Original Message ----- From: "SarahReveley" <sarahreveley@grandecom.net> To: <eng-westmorland@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 11, 2008 8:08 PM Subject: [ENG-WESTMORLAND] Crosby Ravensworth > How many people out there have an interest in Crosby Ravensworth? 3. Hello Sarah, If you remember you sent me some information you had on Blasterfield some time ago Karen Palandri Karen.palandri@orange.fr I am a direct descendant of William POTTER and Ann BETHAM who baptised children in Crosby Ravensworth 1751-1770.The family lived at Crosby Hall 1751-1765 and Blasterfield 1767-1770. William was the son of William POTTER and Margaret BIRD of Orton and the POTTER family was in Orton for quite some time before that. Ann BETHAM we think may be the daughter of John BETHAM who was baptised at Morland 24 Apr 1728, of Little Strickland. I would like to find out about the deaths and burials of William and Ann POTTER. Are there any of their children buried at CR? Do they have any information on Crosby Hall or Blasterfield? William and Ann's daughters married: Michael HAYTON of Orton, Richard EMERSON/EDMUNDSON of CR, possibly James ROBINSON of Orton- is there any information on them? Thank you and best wishes Karen

    3. I am descended from Richard Hoggart b 1758 Yealand Conyers, Warton and Mary (Molly) Sowerby b 1761 who married at Asby May 21st 1786 and who christened their 2nd to 4th Children at Crosby Ravensworth (John 1788, George, 1790, and Matthew 1792) before christening and burying family at Asby. Would be interested to know anything about Mary's family (parents probably Joseph and Isabel) and anything about Richard and Mary during their Crosby Ravensworth period when he is listed as Harberwain Farmer, Shap, Crosby Ravensworth. For info the 1st Child was b at Gaythorn Farm and after 1792 the family are recorded as living at Gaythorn Hall, Asby Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: "SarahReveley" <sarahreveley@grandecom.net> To: <eng-westmorland@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 11, 2008 8:08 PM Subject: [ENG-WESTMORLAND] Crosby Ravensworth > > How many people out there have an interest in Crosby Ravensworth? 3. I am a direct descendant of James MOSS(E) who was buried in Crosby Ravensworth (November 1580). If my research is correct his 3xGreat Granddaughter is Grace MOSS (who married a William SALKELD [May 1693]). In saying that I am having difficulty proving her parentage. Would the Archives hold any proof of her birth etc. Garry F Bell gazza@woosh.co.nz > How many people out there have an interest in Crosby Ravensworth? 3. Sarah, Thank you very much for your offer. My query is as follows: 1. A Jonathon KERSEY was born at Crosby Ravensworth in 1736. His father was Abraham KERSEY. I would like to know what Jonathon's mother' name was and when she married Abraham? 2. A Thomas LONGMIRE married Margaret HANSON 10 May 1790, Crosby Ravensworth. 3. Hi Sarah, I am also interested in both the Hanson Family & Kersey's (Kearsey, Kersy, Casey) which have been posted by Anne Hanson. 1) I would be interested to know more about the Abraham 'HERSEY' (Kersey) mentioned in the CR Parish Registers. Abraham Hersey (Kersey) of Woodfoot. Householder Poor. Buried 6 Feb 1749. How could he be a householder & poor? Would there be any Manorial records for 1749 to check on 'Woodfoot'? 2)LANGHORNE Elizabeth. Married Henry Wilkinson 26 Jun 1615 CR, Died 1667. Is there any record of LANGHORNE's in CR around 1595 ish which I recon to be around her birth year.
