I have done some research on Rowland Taylor of Espford - trying to link him with Thomas Taylor (c1749-1824) of Beathwaite Green, who married Agnes Addison at Heversham in 1772. I do not know Thomas' parents or birthplace. Any information about Thomas gratefully received. David Taylor

I have it in my Sarah's travels folder, Westmorland 1 album. http://www.picturetrail.com/sarahstravels There are a bunch of empty albums, I'm working on my recent trip. ;-) I have a couple of older maps, you never know what might show up. On Googling "Crosted Westmorland" the National Archives has: ARCHIBALD FAMILY OF RUSLAND Administrative history: The Rusland estate was founded in the 16th century by a cadet branch of the Rawlinsons of Graythwaite whose descendant sold it in 1762 to Thomas Walker whose grand-daughter carried it in 1832 to her husband Charles Dickson Archibald, of a Nova Scotia family. DDAR 1 - 280 covers Furness Fells and Kirkby Ireleth. Two entries are: DDAR 141 2 Feb. 1721/2 Contents: Bargain and sale: for £28.10s: Clement Taylor of Roger Ridding, yeoman, to Robt. Scales, Wm. Taylor, both of Thwaitehead, yeomen, and John Taylor of Crosted, co. Westmorland, yeoman -- a dale of arable ground in a close called the Thwaite at Thwaitehead, and a dale of meadow in the Thwaite to the N. end of a close called the Moss -- DDAR 142 2 Feb. 1721/2 Contents: Bargain and sale: for £26.10s: Wm.Taylor of Thwaitehead, yeoman, to John Taylor of Crosted, co. Westmorland, yeoman -- half a close called Highcragg near Forse Forge to the E. side of Forse Forge dam -- Rowland Tayliore is also among the material listed http://www.geog.port.ac.uk/webmap/thelakes/html/lakemenu.htm contains the Old Cumbria Gazetteer (not complete) which gives Thwaitehead Fell as part of Colton Parish once in Lancs.
