Hi John Thank you for replying to my enquiry. I think Thomas Snr may have been a member of the Primitive Methodist church. His death in Australia has this as his religion. I believe this church is classed as non comformist. His second wife ,Sarah's, maiden name was Gordon. After years of searching I finally found that she had been married before and that her name had been Carey /Kerey. Her fourth child born in Victoria had the mothers name as Carey. I wonder if Thomas 1st wife was a Thompson, given one of the sons was named that. I wiil hunt through the shipping records in Aust. in case he was indexed as Thompson not Braithwaite. Will apply for the certificate of the 2nd marriage and also for a birth certificate for one of the children of the 1st marriage.
