Looking for information on Joseph Sowerby who married Isabella (Isabellow) Collinson Hodgson Nov. 17, 1827 in Brough. They had one son, John, christened October 29, 1828. Joseph listed as a grocer on White 1828 Directory and a joiner/wheelwright on Pigot's 1829 Directory. Listed as a carpenter on John's baptism in Bishop's Transcripts. Isabella Collinson born 1791 Gt. Musgrave married William Hodgson of Bongate, Appleby 1809 in Gt. Musgrave. They had six children: Thomas died 1810, Joseph 1811, Elizabeth 1813, Agnes 1818, Ann & William (twins) 1820. William Hodgson died 1821 Green Craig or Cragg and was buried in Brough. I already have extensive information on the Collinson family. Blended family emigrated to Whitby Township 1832. Family lore has Joseph as a Captain but able to confirm this yet. Any information on Joseph Sowerby, his origins or a first marriage would be appreciated. Deborah Hodgkinson Victoria, B.C. Canada
