I have a couple of possibilities (b.York 1764 or Lowther Westm 1762) but have been unable to make any progress with confirming her family. DOBSON - Newbiggin (David Railton) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Thu, 7 Jan 2010 14:01:43 -0000 From: "David Railton" <railton.david@btinternet.com> Subject: [ENG-WESTMORLAND] DOBSON - Newbiggin To: <ENG-WESTMORLAND@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <0895FE252DFA4F51B9119887F9ACE265@davidPC> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I can trace my Dobson ancestors back to my 5 x great grandfather, John Dobson, born about 1721, who was tenant of Newbiggin Hall until he died in 1777. He and his wife, Elizabeth, may previously have lived at Langwathby in Cumberland as their first child, John, was baptised there in 1755. Their other children that I know of, Mary, Joseph, James, George, Richard and Elizabeth were all baptised at Newbiggin. The first child, John, appears to have been the first tenant of the nearby Williamsgill Farm where the family were to live for a number of generations. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has connections with this Dobson family.
