MELANCHOLY CASE.-The schooner George, (of Ulverstone) Edward WHITTLE, master, bound for Cardiff, in South Wales, with a cargo of iron ore, was wrecked on the 18th ult. and all hands perished!-She sailed from Ulverstone on the 18th, and it is supposed had experienced a very rough passage previous to her being seen on the Sunday following in Bristol Channel, about five miles from her destined port, in a very shattered condition: so much so, that from her perilous situation in the channel and the extremely violent state of the weather, she was rendered totally unmanageable, and consequently was dashed to pieces. The passengers and crew were seen clinging to the shrouds a great part of the afternoon of that day in the wildest despair, crying for that support which, alas! was denied them-the supreme behest of Providence had gone forth-assistance was wholly impracticable from those who beheld them from the shore-and they were all swept into the watery deep! The master had only been married a few months to Eleanor, the daughter of Mr. GILLIAT, of Ulverstone, aged 26, who, with her sister Martha, aged 23, and two brothers, John 18, and Bernard 14 years of age, were on board; they together, with the crew, consisted of eight souls. What must be the feelings of that parent who has thus, out of six children, prematurely been deprived of four: the elder of whom, by their own industry, contributed in a great measure to support their now hopeless parent.
