Hi Pete, That is his father who is married to Amelia Winkles. Another lister found a Maud Pilling in 1901 as a head of household with a son William 2 and a son Arthur 9m. Could you send me the 1901 census transcription of the father? When I had the chance with Ancestry, I downloaded the 1901 census transcriptions like the example below: 1901 Census: Civil parish: Aston Manor Ecclesiatical parish: Aston by Birmingham St Peter and St Paul County/Island: Warwickshire Country: England Source information: RG13/2884 Registration district: Aston Sub-registration district: Aston Manor ED, institution, or vessel: 25 Folio: 88 Page: 32 Household schedule number: 228 Name Estimated Birth Year Birthplace Relationship Civil Parish County/Island Jane Winkles abt 1832 Sutton, Warwickshire, England Head Aston Manor Warwickshire Private means Ann Bowler abt 1841 Walsall, Staffordshire, England Servant Aston Manor Warwickshire Servant(Dom Housekeeper) Eliza G Trueman abt 1874 Warwickshire, England Boarder Aston Manor Warwickshire Silver & Gold Chain Maker Worker -- Doug Hawkes e-mail: dhawkes@ee.ryerson.ca > > Hi Doug, I've checked the 1901 and there's one William Pilling in > Birmingam, aged 48 but his wife is Amelia, aged 46. > > Could Maud be a contraction? > > Cheers, Pete Hulme > > -----Original Message----- > > Hi Listers, > > William George Pilling married either Maud Westwood or Florence Abell in > the Dec Qtr 1897, Brum.
