Hello List I hope someone can help. I am helping a friend find information about her grandfather who was merchant seaman Demetrius Funtas. He was killed in 1942 when his ship was torpedoed off the Azores. I have located his death record on the Commonwealth War Graves site and from this found information about his ship and where it went down. I have tried without success to find his death certificate. He lived in Cardiff and sailed from there. He was born in Cyprus but was a British national by 1942. His ship was registered in Tyneside. Any suggestions? Thanks Wendy Partridge
Hi Wendy If you go to www.findmypast.com (was 1837 online) you can search for military death certificates. When you have the information the certificates are available from the GRO. I got my and my husband's grandfathers certificates this way. Hope this helps Regards Hilary
