    1. [B'ham] money conversion from 1890 paid to Baby Farmers
    2. Ken Poole
    3. Hello, Not to beat a subject but in an effort to understand the socialogicl implications of Baby Farmers I offer the the following. In 1890 Baby Farmers charged about 10 pounds to take a baby. Using the currency converter that David Stokes supplied (below) 10 pounds in 1890 converts to 4400 hundred pounds in 2005 or close to $ 8000 USA, that is what baby farmers charged, that seems to me a staggering amount of money. How could a domestic servant come up with that kind of money or for that manner a tradesperson. Cheers Ken http://www.measuringworth.com/calculators/ukcompare/
