With the UK GRO you can look up indices on-line. Are there no Irish indices on-line? I read their web sites but it looks as though you need to know the district; this will be my stumbling block. If I could have just asked them to look for a death in 1861 that might have found something but since I do not know the county, I think I am snookered.
1864 applies to all of Ireland - both North and South.
