Hi Gary I think you mean 1886. For arrivals in Victoria you could try the Public Records Office at http://www.access.prov.vic.gov.au/public/PROVguides/PROVguide023/PROVguide023.jsp bearing in mind that not all shipping records survived. Another site that is good value is www.genseek Although it is predominantly the western district of Victoria, Jenny has indexed many newspapers and other sources and does provide a very good transcription service if you do find a record of interest. There are also links to other sites from here. You can search the Victorian BDM online but there is a charge for this. www.justice.vic.gov.au/ You can search the NSW BDM online free at http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/familyHistory.htm Western Australian Post Office directories are online at http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/pdf/battye/pods/Post_Office_Directories_Contents.htm or WA BDM at www.justice.wa.gov.au/ South Australia you could try www.users.on.net/proformat/index.html Mailing lists is another option. You can find lots of these at rootsweb.com. A friendly and very helpful group in WA is the Dead Persons Society, you will find details at www.perthdps.com Hope you find something of use on one of these sites Bev Kerang, Vic, Oz ----- Original Message ----- From: "J hodge" <jhdl10848@blueyonder.co.uk> To: <eng-warks-birmingham@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 02, 2006 8:08 PM Subject: [B'ham] Australia records > Hi List > > Can anyone detail the Procedure ,to find rellies in australia , I do not > know date he went but sometime after 1986 after birth of youngest son , he > went alone ,promissing to send for them when settled , he never did!. > > Do you start with ships etc or go straight to australia , any listers over > there that could help me. > Sign up to australian lists ? . > > The name is john ROGERS a blacksmith born 1845 wombridge , shropshire . > > gary hodge > > >
