    3. Hello Helena: There is a William and an Emily who were Home Children and sent over to Canada. Both were sent my Middlemore homes in Birmingham. Do you think Emily could be another name for Emma?100,000 children were sent over to Canada to work on farms. There is also a William James Tranter in WW1. This could be William's son as I know in my research these family names were carried on for generations. I will do more research and get back to you. There are quite a few different sites on these home children. My father, George Frederick Burlton, was also a home child and sent over to Canada. Records and photos taken at the time of admission are availabe for a nominal fee.
