I was hoping someone could enlighten me as to the whereabouts of Birmingham wills? I have obtained the death certificate of my ancestor William Hyatt DARKE (other family members used the spelling "Hyett") which confirms that he, a chemist, died on 20 February 1849 at 335 Coventery Rd., Aston. I have access here in Australia to the National Probate Calendars on microfiche, but these only start in 1858. Is there an index anywhere to earlier wills? Where would the documents themselves be found? Grateful for any assistance! Jane N. Birmingham families - DARKE, HYETT, BAYLEY, BENTLEY, MOUNTFORD, LATHAM, ROBINS
Jane, Where in Australia do you obtain access to the National Probate Calendars, please? The Birmingham will I would like to see was from 1869. Jan, They are held here in Melbourne at the State Library of Victoria. I know they also have them at the National Library in Canberra. What state are you in? It might be worth inquiring at your State Library. Jane Quoting Neil Hearn <neil.hearn3@bigpond.com>: > Jane, > Where in Australia do you obtain access to the National > Probate > Calendars, please?
