I thought you only had to live in a parish for three weeks to be 'otp' in order for the Banns to be called. Christine is right with her definition of 'sojourner' (I looked it up like a good scholar) but I don't think every parish was the same. I have received certificates that state "sojourner" - a temporary stay or a brief period of residence which I understood was less than a year. Their spouse may be "of this parish".
