Peter Just because there is a marriage on Free BMD does not mean it is your marriage. Macdonald is a common enough name and you could easily waste £7. It does not sound much, but when you have several wrong certificates it can add up. If this was my ancestor, I would purchase a certificate for a birth that I knew about (as opposed to a guess) and this will give you the mother's maiden name, then you will be able to purchase the correct certificate of marriage. It might be the long way round, but it will cost you less in the long run. (If this makes me sound mean, I don't think I am, I just don't like wasting money, especially money that goes to the Government to spend on themselves, but that is another point entirely!!!) Incidentally, St Jude's was demolished in about 1971. it was at the bottom of Hill Street, and St Jude's Passage next to the Hotel that was the Albany, marks the spot. Regards Pauline Tamworth, Staffs
